President Sirleaf Receives Deputy Speaker Burkina Faso National Assembly; Delivers Special Message

Monrovia, Liberia: President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has received in audience the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso – who delivered a special message on behalf Dr. Salifou Diallo, Speaker of the West African nation’s Parliament.  
 
According to an Executive Mansion release, the special message was delivered on Thursday, July 13, 2017 by Mr. Traore Doeire, Deputy Speaker of Burkina Faso National Assembly to President Sirleaf. She welcomed the Deputy Speaker and spoke of Liberia’s longstanding relationship with Burkina Faso. He was accompanied to the office of the President by Representatives Josephine Francis, Chairperson on Executive at the Honorable House of Representatives. 
 
President Sirleaf commended Deputy Speaker Doeire and welcomed the initiative - something she said is highly appreciated by the Government of Liberia. She said in spite of the many challenges, the Government will continue to increase her budget on health aimed at improving the health sector. She said she was pleased with the invitation extended to the Legislature and expressed the hope that the Conference yield fruitful results. 
 
The Liberian leader used the occasion to encourage the Legislators to also consider Agricultural activities. She thanked him for the visit to Liberia. 
She commended her counterpart, President Keita, through the Deputy Speaker for the visit and asked him to convey to her brother and colleague best wishes. The Liberian leader said Burkina Faso can count on Liberia for support in whatever positive endeavor, adding: “Whatever Liberia can do to promote peace, tranquility and harmony in ECOWAS, especially for Mali, we will do.” 
 
Earlier, Deputy Speaker Deoire thanked President Sirleaf for the audience accorded his delegation adding: “It is a great honor for me to meet with you Madam President at this time; Thank you for this opportunity,” he noted. He said he was happy to be in Liberia and was particularly delighted about ongoing developments in the country. 
 
The Burkinabe Deputy Speaker said he was in Monrovia to deliver a special invitation to the Speaker of the National Legislature and the heads of the Committees Ways, Means and Finance; Health and Population and Planning to a Conference in Ouagadougou, which begins July 20-22, 2017. 
He said among other things the High-Level Conference will focus on strengthening the health sector financially and bring together Legislators from West Africa including Chad and Mauritania respectively.
