President Weah Assures PATEL of Business-friendly Climate

Monrovia, Liberia: President George Manneh Weah has said it was important for the Liberian Business community to have a business-friendly atmosphere so that the financial problems and challenges being faced by Liberians can be overcome. 

The Liberian Leader spoke on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 when met with the Patriotic Entrepreneurs of Liberia (PATEL) in the C. Cecil Dennis Auditorium at his Foreign Ministry Office in Monrovia.
The essence of the meeting was to acquaint the President with prevailing challenges faced by the business community as the government seeks to create a conducive business-friendly climate for its citizens especially business people.
 
The Liberian Leader said the high tariff in Liberia was causing serious problem for the common people in the country and assured the business community that his office will do everything to ease the problem at the Free Port of Monrovia. He lauded PATEL for not taking the law into their hands but “approached the issue with love for country and a sense of reasoning.”
President Weah furthered: “I understand the frustration you face when your containers are brought into the country coupled with attempts to open them in your absence to the extent that things get missing.” He however promised to ensure these problems are taken care of in the shortest possible time.
 
As an initial intervention, the President has promised to waive all penalties they have incurred on overstayed goods/containers, and also pay their taxes in Liberian dollars, instead of paying in US dollars only. 
 
Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Dominic Nimely thanked President Weah for his concern and for listening to them as the father of the nation. “It was important to see a leader who will at all times be willing to listen to his people when they have problem like ours,” Mr. Nimely averred. He said the group will wait on the time promised by the Liberian Leader because they believe in him as person.
 
Also speaking, Madam Helena Dukuly said she was grateful to the Liberian leader for the quick intervention and cautioned her friends to remain calm as the problem will surely be solved since the President has promised to do all within his power to resolve the challenges faced by PATEL.
