President Sirleaf Visits Two Technology Companies in China

Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and delegation on a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China, Tuesday visited two technology companies, ZTE and Huawei Corporations.  The two Corporations have already set up offices in Monrovia.

ZTE Corporation is working with the Liberia Telecommunications Corporation on a five-million dollar project. Huawei Technologies, a global leader in telecommunications network solutions has become the main vender in the telecom market with GSM products. The Corporation which has set up training Centers in five African countries has offered to work with the Liberian government in providing training.

The company has also offered to work with the Liberian Government on developing its electronic network. Huawei Technologies has also made a commitment to donating to government a set of Electronic Government Network worth US$1-million dollars. The equipment would be installed at the Office of the President and three other ministries as a sample and training base of electronic government network in Liberia.

The President and delegation now in Hunan Province were met on arrival by the Acting Governor, Zhou Qiang and other Hunan leaders. The city is home to the Hunan Construction Company, which is currently renovating the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville.  Hunan is one of China’s major rice producers.

The Liberian delegation is today visiting the Hunan Hybrid Rice Research Center and the State’s Grain Reserve Depot.
