Monrovia, Liberia - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has described the just ended National Talent Hunt Contest as a victory for the nation. The President praised the organizers of ‘A Star Is Born,’ and pointed out that the competition shows Liberians can come together in solidarity.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the President over the weekend served as special guest of honor at the finals of the contest held at the Unity Conference Center in Virginia. President Johnson Sirleaf observed that Liberia has many hidden talents which need to be tapped.
The contest, which attracted talented Liberian youth under the age of 20, was won by young Moses Swaray, a 19-year-old member of the Tubman United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Chris Wortorson and Frances Ewu emerged first and second runners-up, respectively.
On behalf of government, Information Minister Dr. Lawrence Bropleh paid tribute to the Chief Patrons of the contest, Mrs. Anita Booth and Mrs. Sohair Doss. The two women are the wives of United States Ambassador Donald Booth and outgoing UNMIL Boss Mr. Alan Doss.
