President Boakai Addresses MEDays Forum, Calls for Africa to Shape New Global Order

Tangier, Morocco - President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., yesterday delivered a keynote address at the 17th edition of the MEDays Forum in Tangier, Morocco, urging African nations to assume a central role in shaping the evolving global landscape.

Speaking at the Palais des Arts et de la Culture before an audience of global leaders, diplomats, and policymakers, President Boakai emphasized that Africa must transition from being an observer in global affairs to becoming a key architect of the world’s future.  He warned that decisions made far from the continent continue to influence African destinies, often without African participation.

“The world is changing in deep and unpredictable ways,” President Boakai said adding, “The critical question is whether Africa will remain a spectator or claim its rightful place as a principal author of the future.”

The Liberian Leader outlined four priority areas where African leadership is essential:

• Geopolitics: Strengthening Africa’s collective voice within international institutions.
• Security: Enhancing regional cooperation to confront terrorism, cyber threats, and organized crime.
• Economic Governance: Advancing value addition, fair negotiation, and domestic processing of natural resources.
• Regional Integration: Accelerating the African Continental Free Trade Area and infrastructure connectivity.

He further encouraged global investors to adopt a partnership-driven approach that supports African industries, promotes local ownership, strengthens infrastructure, and respects environmental and governance standards.

“Africa seeks partnership, not charity,” the President said. “When investors embrace a positive mindset, Africans become contributors to global innovation and partners in shared prosperity,” he said.

President Boakai concluded with a call for unity, strong leadership, and bold action to build a future where African voices influence global outcomes and the continent’s prosperity becomes reality.
