President Boakai Dedicates Development Projects in Grand Bassa Ahead of 179th Independence Day Celebration

The President and his entourage were officially received at the Farmington River Bridge by county authorities, led by President Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence and the County’s Superintendent Karyou Johnson. On hand for the welcome were traditional leaders, elders, and residents, who received President Boakai ahead of the nation’s Independence Day observance in Buchanan.

As part of the day’s activities, President Boakai dedicated a newly constructed Welcome Gate built by the Descendants of Grand Bassa Organization, describing the project as a symbol of the county’s pride, unity, and hospitality.

The President also commissioned a newly constructed Rest Station along the Farmington River Bridge, a project undertaken by the Representative of Grand Bassa County Electoral District #1, Honorable Isaac Bannie. The facility is intended to provide a safe and convenient resting point for travelers entering and leaving Grand Bassa County.

Speaking during the ceremonies, President Boakai commended the citizens, local authorities, and development partners whose contributions made the projects possible. He noted that community-driven initiatives complement the Government’s national development agenda by improving public infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

The President encouraged Liberians to continue working together in promoting peace, unity, and development, emphasizing that national progress is achieved through collective effort and shared responsibility.

The dedications of projects formed part of a series of activities leading to the official celebration of Liberia’s 179th Independence Day in Buchanan, where President Boakai will host national and international guests for the country’s annual commemoration.

Further, along his way to Buchanan, the President made a stopover in St. John’s River City where he cut ribbons to the newly constructed Event Hall.  The Hall was constructed by prominent Grand Bassa County citizen Emmanuel Nuku Reeves.

Arriving in Buchanan, the President dedicated the newly reconstructed Superintendent Compound.  Later, the President proceeded to the CLSG sub-station in Buchanan where he switched on electricity to light up the City.
