President Boakai Arrives in Nairobi for 2026 Africa Forward Summit, Holds High-Level Talks with African and Global Leaders

Nairobi, Kenya: His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and delegation arrived early this morning in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, to participate in the Africa Forward Summit scheduled to run from the 11th to the 12th of May, 2026.

Ahead of the summit, which convenes in earnest tomorrow, Monday, May 11, President Boakai is today scheduled to hold separate meetings with three presidents, namely Dr. William Samuel Ruto of Kenya, the host of the summit; His Excellency Alhassan Quattara of La Côte d’Ivoire, and His Excellency Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic.

The four Presidents are hanging heads on the specific contents, scope, and target goals of the Summit. The 2026 edition of the Forward Africa Summit is being convened by the leaders of Kenya and France.

The Summit is expected to bring together African Heads of State and Government, policymakers, development partners, private sector leaders, and international stakeholders to deliberate on issues relating to economic transformation, peace and security, sustainable financing, innovation, youth empowerment, and regional cooperation across the continent.

President Boakai’s arrival in Nairobi this morning follows his departure from Liberia yesterday, accompanied by a team of senior government officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of State without Portfolio Hadja Mamaka Bility, Youth and Sports Minister Cornelia W. Kruah, National Security Advisor Samuel K. Woods, Liberia’s Ambassador to France Teeko Yorlay, Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) Managing Director Mohammed Sherif, and Liberia National Tourism Authority Director General Princess Eva Cooper.

While President Boakai is away, Minister of Justice & Attorney General Oswald Natu Tweh will act as chair of the Cabinet, in consultation with the Vice President of the Republic while remaining in close contact with the President.

The President and Party are expected back in the country on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
