First Lady Engages with Health Minister
Monrovia, Liberia - In an effort to abreast herself with the current health challenges in the country, First Lady received in audience Health Minister Dr. Louise Kpoto on Friday, March 1, at her office on Capitol Hill.
During the meeting, the First Lady congratulated Dr. Kpoto on her preferment to head the health sector, encouraging her to serve with patriotism, honesty, and diligence.
Mrs. Boakai also assured the Minister of her support and partnership in addressing the many health challenges facing the health system, especially mother and child health.
She also stressed the need to rally efforts and action in tackling drug abuse, which has been deemed a national emergency by his Excellency, President Dr. Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
Health Minister Kpoto, in response, thanked the First Lady for her commitment to championing health related issues as part of her initiatives.
Dr. Kpoto used the occasion to share her aspiration for improving the Liberian health sector, with the support of the government and other partners.
The health minister also highlighted the prevailing health situation in the country, pinpointing specific areas the First Lady could collaborate with the Ministry.
