President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Arrives in Rome for World Food Forum
Rome, Italy — His Excellency, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., and his delegation arrived in Rome earlier today to attend the World Food Forum, set to begin on Monday, October 14, 2024.
The Liberian delegation landed at Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport and was welcomed by Mr. Javier D. Fernandez, Head of Protocol at the Vatican, along with the Liberian Ambassador to Italy, His Excellency Andrew Kronyanh, and his staff. Also present to receive the delegation were the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative to Liberia, Madam Bintia Stephen Tehicaya.
President Boakai is scheduled to deliver remarks during the Forum’s official opening ceremony, held under the theme “Good Food for All, Today and Tomorrow,” on Monday.
Accompanying the President are the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Alexander Neutah; the Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Jerelinmek Piah; Ambassador Antoinette Wolo, Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Liberia; and key staff from the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs.
The World Food Forum is expected to host numerous world leaders, all gathering to discuss global food security and sustainability. This year’s overarching theme, “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future,” emphasizes the critical importance of addressing food access and nutrition for sustainable development.
Agriculture is a cornerstone of President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, and his participation in the Forum is aimed at strengthening international support for Liberia’s agricultural development initiatives.
